Mississippi Delta Railroad — Lula Line

MS · Coahoma County → Lula

Illinois Central rails across the cotton Delta.

Heads up: Rated fair. Railroad-owned. Get permission first.

The Illinois Central and its predecessors laced the Mississippi Delta with lines to carry cotton, and Clarksdale and the towns around it grew up beside the tracks.

This line later passed to a short line, the Mississippi Delta Railroad. The stretch toward Lula is now out of use, with rusty rails running straight across the flat fields.

⚠️ Before you go: every railroad on this map is private property. A line that looks abandoned may still be owned by a railroad, used to store rail cars, or put back into service at any time — sometimes with no warning. Before going near any track, make sure it's truly abandoned (no recent use, rails not polished, no signals or cars stored on it) and that you're allowed to be there. Never assume a track is dead.
