FOXY — Tony to Prentice

WI · Tony → Prentice

North Woods rails, out of service since 2020.

Heads up: Rated good, but it's owned by an operating railroad that could bring trains back. Get permission.

The Wisconsin Central built this line through the northern Wisconsin forests to haul timber and paper. CN took over the Wisconsin Central in 2001.

CN stopped service between Tony and Prentice in 2020. In 2021 Watco's Fox Valley & Lake Superior railroad bought about 500 miles of CN's Wisconsin lines, including some, like this one, where trains had already stopped. OpenStreetMap was last updated in early 2025 to show it as disused. The track is still in good shape, since trains ran here until recently.

⚠️ Before you go: every railroad on this map is private property. A line that looks abandoned may still be owned by a railroad, used to store rail cars, or put back into service at any time — sometimes with no warning. Before going near any track, make sure it's truly abandoned (no recent use, rails not polished, no signals or cars stored on it) and that you're allowed to be there. Never assume a track is dead.
