Valmont Area
CO · Boulder → Valmont
A short, overgrown piece of track on Boulder's east side.
Boulder's rail network dates to the 1870s, when lines reached the city from Denver and the plains. Much of it was later torn out or swallowed by development. This piece near Valmont — named for an 1860s farm town that came before Boulder's growth — is badly overgrown and appears to be on private property.
⚠️ Before you go: every railroad on this map is private property. A line that looks abandoned may still be owned by a railroad, used to store rail cars, or put back into service at any time — sometimes with no warning. Before going near any track, make sure it's truly abandoned (no recent use, rails not polished, no signals or cars stored on it) and that you're allowed to be there. Never assume a track is dead.
