Ozark Valley Railroad — Kingdom City to Auxvasse

MO · Kingdom City → Auxvasse

The Fulton branch, waiting for a comeback that never comes.

Heads up: Rated impassable. Still owned by an active short line that stores cars on it, so stay off without permission.

This line was part of the old Alton Route and later the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio, running south from Mexico to Fulton. Kansas City Southern ran it last, and in 2007 the Ozark Valley Railroad took over the 22 miles between Mexico and Fulton.

Regular trains to Fulton stopped in the late 1990s. The owner has talked for years about reopening it if enough shippers sign up, and has used tracks south of Mexico to store rail cars. It's the same owner who is bringing back the McCloud Railway in California.

⚠️ Before you go: every railroad on this map is private property. A line that looks abandoned may still be owned by a railroad, used to store rail cars, or put back into service at any time — sometimes with no warning. Before going near any track, make sure it's truly abandoned (no recent use, rails not polished, no signals or cars stored on it) and that you're allowed to be there. Never assume a track is dead.
