Willamette Valley Railway — Silverton to Stayton
OR · Silverton → Stayton
A farm-country shortline, cut back by a storm in 2012.
Heads up: The Woodburn–Silverton line north of here is ACTIVE.
The Willamette Valley Railway took over former Southern Pacific branches east of Salem and Woodburn to keep farm and industrial customers connected to the main line.
In 2012 storm damage and low traffic led the railway to embargo the section south of Silverton to Stayton. It has sat unused since, while the Woodburn–Silverton part keeps running.
⚠️ Before you go: every railroad on this map is private property. A line that looks abandoned may still be owned by a railroad, used to store rail cars, or put back into service at any time — sometimes with no warning. Before going near any track, make sure it's truly abandoned (no recent use, rails not polished, no signals or cars stored on it) and that you're allowed to be there. Never assume a track is dead.
