The quiet end of a Texas line that's coming back.

Heads up: Rated fair. Owned by an active railroad that just reopened the line next door, so stay off without permission.

The Santa Fe built this branch west from Lometa to Brady and beyond. Short lines kept it going after the Santa Fe left, hauling frac sand from Brady until that business dried up and OmniTRAX shut the line in 2019.

In April 2026 OmniTRAX reopened about 49 miles from Lometa to a rock quarry west of Richland Springs (that part is off the map now). This west end to Brady is still unused, but the company lists the full line, so it may reopen too.

⚠️ Before you go: every railroad on this map is private property. A line that looks abandoned may still be owned by a railroad, used to store rail cars, or put back into service at any time — sometimes with no warning. Before going near any track, make sure it's truly abandoned (no recent use, rails not polished, no signals or cars stored on it) and that you're allowed to be there. Never assume a track is dead.
